Mainline Recycling Ltd website: homepage designed and built by Vimana Digital

The brief

Why Mainline Recycling had lost confidence

Vimana Digital designed, wrote and built a responsive WordPress website for Mainline Recycling Ltd, a Derby waste management company whose two previous sites were unfit for purpose. We wrote the copy from scratch, built an SEO strategy into it, and matched the design to the company's logo and vehicle colours. The client said we surpassed their expectations.

Over the previous three years, Mainline Recycling had been through two basic website builds. Neither was fit for purpose. They had also received poor advice and spent budget on SEO services that brought no new business.

So when we first spoke, the question was not really about design. It was whether another agency would be any different. They needed reassurance before they needed a website.

The brief itself was straightforward:

Our aim was to exceed their expectations.

How we did it

How we did it

  1. 01

    Took the history seriously

Two failed builds and wasted SEO budget meant the client needed reassurance, so the plan had to be visibly different.

  2. 02

    Consolidated the content

Our first task is gathering what will go on the site. Here that meant starting the copywriting from scratch.

  3. 03

Wrote the SEO into the copy

Rather than build a site and then "do SEO" to it, we integrated the search strategy with the content from the start.

  4. 04

    Used the company's real colours

The palette comes from the logo and the vehicles, which are the brand people recognise.

  5. 05

    Built on WordPress

, then revealed the live site to the client.

What we built

What we built

The structure was planned for the long term, so new services can be added without a redesign.

  • A secure, fully responsive WordPress website
  • A layout that displays each service clearly, making enquiries easy
  • Copy written from scratch with an SEO strategy built into it
  • Client-supplied imagery, held to a high standard
  • A colour palette that mirrors the Mainline Recycling logo and vehicle colours, so the website looks like the business customers already see on the road
  • A readable, interactive layout with transparent service information

Responsive experience

Clear on every screen

We have had a brand new website built by Vimana recently for our small (ish) but growing waste management company and we are super happy with the useability, look and format. Amit is currently working on our SEO, he is very responsive to any queries and very understanding of our lack of technical ability. So impressed at how quickly things get done! Amit is very knowledgeable, miles ahead of all the other marketing companies that we have worked with previously, and much more professional and down-to-earth. No sales jargon, or pushiness, and very reasonable pricing. I have already recommended Vimana to other businesses we know and work with, and will continue to do so!

Questionsabout thisproject

Not covered here? Call and ask. We reply within 24 hours.

We have already paid for two websites that didn't work. Why would yours be different?

That was exactly Mainline Recycling's position. What changed was writing the copy from scratch and building the SEO strategy into it, rather than bolting SEO onto a finished site. Nobody can honestly promise rankings, but you can ask us to walk you through the plan and the reasoning before you commit.

How much does a waste management website cost?

A small business website starts from around £1,000 with Vimana Digital. Medium to large sites, with a page per service, full copywriting and an SEO strategy built in, typically cost £3,000 to £6,000. Local SEO starts from £400 a month if you want ongoing work after launch. Prices exclude VAT.

Do we have to write the content for our services?

No. For Mainline Recycling we wrote everything from scratch, with the SEO strategy built in. You check the pages for accuracy before launch. Most waste businesses find this faster than writing it themselves between collections, and the copy is written to be found as well as read.

Should the website match our vehicle livery?

It helps. For a local waste business, the vehicles are often the most recognised part of the brand. We matched Mainline Recycling's palette to its logo and vehicle colours, so someone who sees a vehicle and then searches the company finds a site that looks like the same business.
