Double Glazing Windows Nottingham: Why D&M Windows Got a Second Website
By Amit Saini, founder of Vimana Digital · First published 16 January 2025 · Updated 23 October 2026
Double Glazing Windows Nottingham is a product-focused WordPress website Vimana Digital built for D&M Windows & Doors, a Ruddington installer trading for over 30 years. It presents uPVC, timber-alternative, sash, casement and tilt-and-turn double glazing plus composite, bi-fold, patio and French doors, with enquiry links throughout, for customers across the East Midlands.

Who are D&M Windows, and why a second site?
D&M Windows & Doors sell and fit windows, doors, composite doors and glass rooms from Charles Street in Ruddington, on the south edge of Nottingham, and have been trading for more than 30 years. They first came to us for SEO. Their website at the time could not carry a campaign, so we rebuilt it on WordPress, wrote around 80% of the copy and gave each product its own page with a downloadable brochure. That story is told in the D&M Windows case study.
Double Glazing Windows Nottingham came later, as an extension of the D&M brand with a narrower job: windows, explained properly, for people searching for double glazing rather than for a particular installer.
The honest trade-off with a second domain is that it starts with no authority of its own, and it splits attention between two sites that both need updating. It makes sense when the second site has a genuinely different audience and content, which is the test Google applies too (see Section 6).
What is on the Double Glazing Windows Nottingham website?
- A window range with a section for each type: uPVC, timber alternative, sliding sash, casement, flush casement and tilt and turn, with Standard and Evolution range options and a choice of finishes and colours.
- Doors alongside: composite, bi-fold, patio and French doors, so a customer replacing windows can price the front door at the same time.
- A conservation-area guide: a dedicated page under About Us on double glazing in conservation areas, including planning guidance. Nottinghamshire has plenty of conservation areas and this page answers the question installers get asked most.
- Energy performance stated: products are described with an A+ rating.
- Enquiry routes everywhere: a mobile number, an email address, "Enquire" links on each product section, Contact Us buttons throughout, and a showroom section on the contact page.
- Areas served, named: Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and the wider East Midlands, so the site can match the searches people actually type.
- Built on WordPress so D&M's team can add offers and photos themselves, with Vimana handling hosting, SEO and updates.
The site states "over 20 years of industry expertise" while dmwindows.co.uk states "trading for over 30 years".
When does a second website help a trade business, and when does it hurt?
Three facts shaped how we built this one:
- Google penalises doorway sites. Its spam policies define doorway abuse as sites or pages created to rank for specific, similar queries that lead users to the same destination, and list "multiple domain names or pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page" as an example (Google Search Central, spam policies). A second site must have its own content, its own product detail and its own reason to exist. Double Glazing Windows Nottingham does: the window range is covered in far more depth than on the main site, and the conservation-area guide exists nowhere else.
- Most of the audience is on a phone. UK adults spend around four and a half hours a day online, most of it on a smartphone (Ofcom, Online Nation 2025), and Google has indexed the mobile version of every site first since October 2023 (Google Search Central). Every product section has a tap-to-enquire link for that reason.
- The competition is large and local. Nottingham has 1,015 construction enterprises and Derby 995 (ONS UK Business Counts via Nomis, March 2026). A window installer competing on "double glazing Nottingham" is up against hundreds of firms; a site that explains sash versus flush casement in plain English stands out from the ones that say "quality windows at great prices".
If you are a trade business wondering whether to add a second site, the short version is: only if you can fill it with content the first site doesn't have. Otherwise, add pages to the site you own. We'll tell you honestly which applies to you. See our guide to web design for tradesmen.

Should a double glazing company have a separate website for windows and doors?
Usually not; one well-structured site with a page per product does the job for most installers. A second site only helps when it carries content and depth the first cannot, as Double Glazing Windows Nottingham does for D&M's window range. Two thin sites split your effort, halve your authority and risk being treated as doorway pages by Google.
What should a double glazing website include?
A page or section per window and door type, finishes and colours, energy ratings, a guide to planning rules such as conservation areas, your own installation photos, areas covered, accreditations, reviews, and a phone number and enquiry link on every product. Customers compare three or four installers; detail wins.
How much does a website for a window company cost?
With Vimana Digital, a product-led brochure site for an installer typically costs £3,000–£6,000, depending on how many product pages and brochures it needs; a smaller site starts from around £1,000. Hosting is from £120 a year with SSL included, and management from £50 a month paid annually. Prices exclude VAT.
Can we update the site ourselves after launch?
Yes. Both D&M sites are built on WordPress, so adding an offer, a new product range or installation photos is a short job in the editor, and we provide training. If you would rather not touch it, our website management service covers updates, backups and small changes from £50 a month (paid annually).
