The brief

The products had moved forward. The website hadn't.

Vimana Digital designed and built a new ecommerce website for Ultrabond Adhesives, replacing an aesthetically dated site. Customers browse the adhesive and sealant range, select product variations, and complete checkout on the same site. Trade buyers get their own accounts for repeat orders. We also helped populate the product catalogue so customers could explore the range from launch.

Ultrabond Adhesives had a website, but its age and look no longer represented the products or the company behind them. In a technical, product-led industry, customers need to understand quickly what is available and buy the right product.

The replacement had three jobs:

How we did it

How we did it

  1. 01

    Designed around repeat business

For a trade supplier, the first sale is only the start. Accounts and repeat ordering make the site a familiar destination rather than a one-off shop.

  2. 02

Industrial products that feel like ecommerce

Customers should not have to work through a dense technical catalogue to see what they can buy, so imagery, product names and pricing sit within a consistent visual system.

  3. 03

    The company kept visible

Professional buyers often want an ongoing supplier, not the cheapest single transaction, so Ultrabond's story sits alongside the shop.

  4. 04

    Built for mobile too

Trade and individual customers can browse and buy wherever they happen to be working, without switching devices.

What we built

What we built

  • An ecommerce website with products, variations, basket and checkout in one journey
  • Product options, so customers choose the appropriate variation before ordering
  • Customer accounts and login, with account details retained, so returning trade buyers can reorder without starting again
  • A populated catalogue: we worked on the product uploads so the store was ready from launch
  • A "Who are Ultrabond" brand story alongside the shop, so buyers know who they are purchasing from

Results

  • Ultrabond Adhesives now has a significantly cleaner, more professional website than the one it replaced.
  • The site works as an ecommerce channel: customers explore products and complete purchases online.
  • Customer accounts support both new sales and long-term repeat purchasing from trade customers.

What does a trade ecommerce website need that a normal shop doesn't?

Customer accounts, saved details and repeat ordering. Trade buyers come back for the same products, so the site should remember them. Ultrabond's shop gives returning customers their own login, so they come back to a familiar purchasing environment instead of starting again. The company story also sits alongside the shop, because trade buyers often want a supplier relationship.

How much does an industrial ecommerce website cost?

Most ecommerce shops fall into our medium–large band of £3,000–£6,000, depending on the size of the range, product variations and features such as customer accounts. Complex or bespoke platforms start from £5,000+. Hosting is from £120 a year with SSL included. Prices exclude VAT. We quote once we understand your catalogue.

Will you upload our products for us?

Yes. We worked on the product uploads for Ultrabond, helping populate the store so customers could explore the range from launch. Product information has to work consistently across listings, product pages and purchasing options, so we treat catalogue population as part of the build, not an afterthought.

How long does an ecommerce website take?

Ecommerce builds typically take four to eight weeks once the brief is agreed. The largest variable is product data: a range with clean datasheets and good images goes faster than one that needs photography and copy first.
