PT54 Personal Training: a WordPress website with class booking, built in three days for launch

Paul's self-built website broke days before his personal training business launched. We started again on WordPress, added a booking calendar for his classes, and had it live in time.

PT54 Personal Training website: homepage designed and built by Vimana Digital

The brief

A launch in 72 hours and a website that had stopped working

Vimana Digital rebuilt PT54 Personal Training's website from scratch on WordPress after Paul's self-built site broke days before his business launch. We moved his existing content and imagery across, added a booking calendar for his fitness classes, and had the site live within three days, in time for the launch.

Paul had built his own website, but the theme broke with his personal training business due to launch in 72 hours. He sent a contact form through our website and, by his account, had a call back within minutes.

We met first to understand exactly what he needed, rather than trying to patch a site we hadn't seen. Once we had looked at it properly, the problem was clear: the framework he'd started on wasn't suitable, and fixing it would take longer than starting again.

How we did it

Three days, in order

  1. 01

    Saturday morning meeting

Paul's review says we met on a Saturday to go through the issues. Sitting down together made it quick to agree a direction.

  2. 02

    Decide to start over

The broken theme was not worth rescuing. A fresh WordPress template on the microsites package was faster and safer for the future, so we agreed that rather than patching.

  3. 03

    Collect what already exists

Paul had most of the written content and all the imagery ready. He shared it through Google Drive, which saved a full content stage.

  4. 04

    Build, then add the bookings

Pages, content and media went in first. The booking calendar for his classes was the final piece, added the day before launch.

  5. 05

    Amends by WhatsApp

Paul sent a stream of "can you change that" messages while we worked, and we dealt with them as they came in.

What we built

A simple, fast WordPress site Paul can run himself

The aim was a working, professional site live before the launch date, on a platform Paul could keep using without us.

  • WordPress build on our microsites package: quick to create and easy for a client to edit afterwards
  • Content and imagery migrated from the Google Drive folder Paul shared with us
  • Graphic design to make his existing images fit the new layouts
  • Booking calendar integrated through an API so clients can book his fitness classes online
  • Handover so Paul, who knows the basics of web maintenance, can manage the site himself
So pleased I sent that contact form! Within minutes I had a call back from Amit. I had built a website but the theme had broken and it was due to go live in 48hrs. Amit met up with me on a Saturday morning and dissected the issues. The easiest way forward to be future proof was a new template. We agreed a new template theme on the microsites package. Within 3 days the website was built, content and media added and my booking calendar integrated onto pt54.fitness and it was live. Amit persevered with my endless 'Can you change that' , 'How about this', 'Don't like that' Whatsapp messages and dealt with all the amends I needed. Great job, thanks!

Questionsabout thisproject

How much does a website for a personal trainer cost?

A small business website with Vimana Digital starts from around £1,000. Prices exclude VAT. For most personal trainers that covers a homepage, services, about page, contact details and a booking link or calendar. If you want online payments or membership areas the price rises, so tell us what you need and we'll quote for it.

How quickly can you build a personal trainer website?

Straightforward websites usually take one to three weeks once the content is agreed. PT54 took three days because Paul already had his text and images ready and the brief was clear. If you have a launch date, tell us at the start and we'll say honestly whether it's achievable.

Can you add online booking for classes and sessions?

Yes. For PT54 we integrated a booking calendar through its API so clients book classes directly on the site. The right tool depends on how you take payments and manage your diary, so we'll look at what you already use before recommending anything.

Will I be able to update the website myself?

Yes, if we build it on WordPress. WordPress is easy for clients to edit, and Paul now manages his own site day to day. If you'd rather hand it over, our website management service starts from £50 a month, paid annually.
