Why We Launched a Separate Website for One City (and When You Should)

By Amit Saini, founder of Vimana Digital · First published 11 September 2026 · Updated 23 October 2026

A separate website for a single location makes sense only when it has a distinct audience and its own content, services and enquiry route. Vimana Digital launched nottinghamwebsitedesign.co.uk in September 2026 on that basis. For most small businesses, a well-built location page on the main site is cheaper and works better.

What is nottinghamwebsitedesign.co.uk?

It is a focused site for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire businesses, described on its own pages as an extension of Vimana Digital and signed off in the footer as "A Vimana Digital company". The address, phone number and email are ours: 1 Union Street, Long Eaton, NG10 1HH, 0115 647 0444, contact@vimanadigital.com.

What it contains:

  • Seven service pages: website design, web development (WordPress and bespoke code), ecommerce websites, app development, custom CRM development, AI automation and workflows, and website management covering content updates, bug fixes, form testing and plugin updates.
  • Supporting services mentioned in passing: branding and logo design, photography, videography, hosting and launch support.
  • A six-step process: learn about the business, plan, design, build, test, launch and support.
  • Published pricing: websites from £1,000 for straightforward projects, with a quote usually provided within 24 hours.
  • Three named projects: Loop, LJM Solutions and Doors Doors Doors.
  • Navigation: Home, About, Our Work, FAQ, Contact, Blog and a two-step Get A Quote form.

One thing to flag honestly: the new site quotes two to four weeks for a simple business website and six to twelve for larger projects, while this site says one to three weeks for straightforward builds.

Why build a second website instead of a better page?

We already had a Nottingham page here and plenty of Nottingham clients. The case for a separate domain came down to three things, and each has a cost attached.

  • A narrower promise. The main Vimana site covers digital marketing, SEO, paid ads, apps, software and AI as well as websites. A Nottingham business owner who just wants a website has to find their way through all of that. The new site says one thing: websites and the systems around them, for Nottingham firms. Cost: a second brand to explain, and two sites to keep consistent.
  • Room for local depth. Nottingham has 9,940 registered enterprises, 8,560 of them with fewer than ten staff (ONS UK Business Counts via Nomis, March 2026). That is the audience, and it is big enough to deserve its own FAQ, its own blog and its own portfolio rather than a single page. Cost: every one of those pages has to be written and kept current, or the site becomes the thin doorway Google's policies describe: "multiple domain names or pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page" (Google Search Central, spam policies).
  • A test we can measure. We rebuilt vimanadigital.com in 2026 with every URL kept or properly redirected (see website migration SEO), and we track both sites in Search Console. If the Nottingham domain brings enquiries the main site doesn't, we'll say so here. If it doesn't, we'll say that too.

The thing we did not do is move Nottingham content off this site. Web design Nottingham remains the fullest page we have for the city, with local prices, timelines and the Nottingham portfolio, and it links across to the new site rather than competing with it.

Should your business have a separate website for each location?

Usually not. A checklist, from the sites we have built for clients as well as ourselves (Double Glazing Windows Nottingham and Secondary Glazing Derby are two client examples):

  • Build a second site if the audience is genuinely different (a different county, a different product line, a different kind of buyer) and you can give it its own pages, photos, reviews and contact route.
  • Build a second site if you can keep two sites updated. WordPress needs patching: Patchstack logged 11,334 new WordPress-ecosystem vulnerabilities in 2025, 91% of them in plugins (Patchstack, February 2026). Two sites, twice the upkeep.
  • Add a location page instead if the only difference would be the place name. Google's doorway policy is aimed squarely at that, and one strong site beats two weak ones.
  • Add a location page instead if you are a one-van business covering a 15-mile radius. Your Google Business Profile and a single good site will do more than a second domain; see local SEO.
  • Never copy pages from one site to the other. Each site needs words written for its own reader.

Is nottinghamwebsitedesign.co.uk a different company from Vimana Digital?

No. It is run by Vimana Digital from the same office at 1 Union Street, Long Eaton, with the same team, phone number and email. The site describes itself as a focused extension of Vimana Digital for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire businesses, concentrating on websites, web development, CRM, apps, AI automation and website management.

Does having two websites help with Google rankings?

Not by itself. Two domains split the links and authority one domain would gather, and near-duplicate regional sites can be treated as doorway pages under Google's spam policies. A second site helps only when it offers content and a service focus the first site doesn't, and when both are properly maintained.

Should I put my city in my business website's domain name?

Only if the business is genuinely local and the name reads naturally; an exact-match domain gives no ranking advantage on its own. What matters is the content: a clear page per service and per area, your address and phone number, reviews and a Google Business Profile that matches. See our local SEO service.

How much does a location-specific website cost?

The same as any other site of its size. With Vimana Digital a straightforward business website starts from around £1,000 and a larger one costs £3,000–£6,000, plus hosting from £120 a year. Budget for the ongoing cost too: a second site needs its own updates, which our management service covers from £50 a month (paid annually). Prices exclude VAT.

Where should Nottingham businesses start with Vimana Digital?

Start with our web design Nottingham page, which sets out local prices, typical timelines and the Nottingham websites we've built, or call 0115 647 0444. We're eight miles from the city centre in Long Eaton and happy to meet in person or on site.

Whether you need one good page or a second site, we'll give you a straight answer and a price.
